I have very high credence in your conclusion.

My only hope that you're wrong, aside from general humility, is that humans are biologically rigged to differentiate ourselves from similar humans (identical twins raised together are more dissimilar than identical twins raised separately).

That drive to be unique may be the biologically motivated reason that Augustine and his posse zigged pears when society told them to zag, which aligned AI might not share.
